I have some questions about SWP. Firstly I managed to fix a garbled audio bug by setting compatibility to windows 7 but cant for the life of me figure out how to use rips of the cd tracks with it. Second, why does Wanton Destruction not show the new enemy sprites and is there a grp of Twin Dragon with the unofficial level fixes installed?

Welcome to the forum, glad to meet a fellow SW fan. I use win7 so I wasn't aware that there was a problem with the audio, I'm guessing you're using win10? If so, that's a good fix for people to know.
As for the music, I've never done this but it appears that SWP can play from a cd so perhaps burn the music to a cd with the proper song names and track order, or make an .iso and load it with a program like powerISO to emulate an optical drive. There could perhaps be another way that I am unaware of so I'm hoping others will chime in because I haven't been doing much gaming for a few years now.
As for WD not showing the sprites, are you using the proper version for use with SWP and not the original? Perhaps it's getting confused with other addons in the folder and a fresh install with just wd installed will be a good try.
I think there is a .grp with the TD fixes installed but I don't remember where it's hosted. One could be easily put together using programs from this site like Xgroup.

Well stupid me, I figured out the sprite problem; be sure you run the addons with the included batch scripts and don't just dump them in the maps directory. Yeah, I run windows 10. Was a hesitant though necessary upgrade for me. The addon fixes I'm talking about are the ones found here, familiar names with the word "fix" at the end. Could probably just be merged into the SWP versions with some tools. For the cd audio I kind of wish there was another way. My PC has a cd drive but I don't own any blank CDs and I have the GOG version. A drive emulator should work but performing extra steps before starting the game, each time every time, sounds like such a buzz kill. Maybe I could batch it. I also notice you guys have an unofficial beta 9 extension to SWP here with animated voxel support and "a few extra crash fixes" or something. Does it also repair the save corruption issue that I hear 4.3.2 had?

I thought I had a patch batch file up there that added all the fixes to the wd.grp by way of KenS. tools, I guess not.

Robman said: try 7 compat mode?
unfortunately doesn't work for me, i still get the same "Caught exception 0xC0000005 at 0x772135CE" error (goo.gl/eNMwaB). Is there something that i can try? and the SWP will get a update to win 10 in the future (plans)? Thks.

Corvin, Actually no, i found out that the error in the startup was my audio device, i use Steelseries H wireless (first version) and i think the SWP cant indentify my device... but after some minutes playing the aplication crash, so im playing the Classic Redux version untill a update xD

Is there seriously no way to use rips of the CD tracks? I'm trying to dig up that old info, but I can't find what I'm looking for. The documentation for SWP says that it can play ogg and mp3 files, but I'm not sure how to get the program to actually recognize them. I tried copying the .ogg files I had used with JFShadowWarrior back in the day (found them on my old machine) but strangely SWP wasn't having any of that. It still used these midi files from the shareware version.
I see that there's an example of using a custom file to designate all of the level data, like if you were using a mod. Theoretically I could use that to tell it to use my oggs or mp3s for each stage, but that would require me to know what stages use what track. Offhand I don't know that.

SWP does NOT use anything other than midi (at least I've never been able to get it to play OGG), unless you have an actual Shadow Warrior disk in your CD drive, which will allow you to check the option to play CD audio. I'm not sure about that custom file, it might still try to find those files on a disk. The full version of Shadow Warrior always used a disk for sound, though I've seen multiple ports (GOG and SWCR) that somehow mount a folder instead of using a real disk, and I haven't figured out how on earth they do that. I'm still not sure why you want music to be playing in a multiplayer match (where it's important to hear other players), but I'll try to look further into this today.

quick update: I didnt really find the answers to my all my questions, however I did find that as long as i simply put those two main files SW.GRP etc. into the SWPBuild Directory and follow the simple instructions from the site you really don't need to worry about any batch files or addons. I got everything working great. Everything just seems to run much smoother.
