Hey everyone, i have looked everywhere online for help. ive watched many videos on youtube on the subject as well. I have been hitting quite a few snags. I used to make custom maps for Duke3D and loved it. it was very easy. When i saw what you could do with Shadow Warriors version of "Build.exe" I couldn't wait to get started building levels. The first problem i ran into was that when using the original "Build.exe" that came with my GOG version of "Shadow Warrior Complete" when trying to resize textures using the numpad, it does it in increments that are so large that I just cannot get any kind of accuracy with it. When using SWMapster32, this is no longer a problem; however in SWMapster32 when trying to change any Sprite tags other than hi-tag(Tag1) and lo-tag(Tag2) it doesn't seem to work. The keys used to do this, according to the youtube videos I watched and the .txt files that came with the game, do not seem to work as intended any more. for example, if i try to change Tag3 by aiming the cursor at the sprite in 2d mode and pressing "Quotations key+3" it does not allow me to change the tag and instead changes some kind of "Mode". I thought mabe i could do all my Tag assigning in the original build engine, and then switch to SWMapster32 for everything else, however I can't seem to make this work either and would really rather stick to using just one program preferably "SWMapster32" if at all possible. The other major problem I've been having is with making sound effects for a door when it opens. I have followed guides for this and when choosing the sounds, the numbers the guide and the included .txt files gives me for it do not seem to work correctly. I set Tag2(the match Tag) to "5", the same as used for the door ST1 sprite that I flipped so the door opens upwards into the cieling. I used 134 as the Hi-Tag to make the new ST1 sprite function as a "Sound Spot" and i made BOOL1 tag set to 1 so it only plays once. when I tried to set tag 4 to the number the guides say is supposed to be for opening a wooden door which is "162" it behaves in an unexpected manner. in fact the door appears to have no sound although it will open and close like normal, and even before trying to open the door, some unknown music that wasn't there before is playing in the background. I followed the guides perfectly to the letter but to no avail. Also I'd like to note that I am using the version of DOSBOX that comes with the GOG.com version of Shadow Warrior Complete. My PC is a Ryzen 5 3600, x2 sticks 8GB of DDR4 3200Mhz CL16 RAM totalling 16GB of RAM, Gigabyte Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB version GPU, Asus Prime B550-Plus AC-HES motherboard, Western Digital WD Blue SN570 1Terabyte Nvme M.2 SSD, Windows 10 64bit Home. Please, any help would be very much appreciated. I really want to make a bunch of custom maps and I am also very interested in Completely Modding the Game into something else, mabe a Warhammer 40k Mod for Shadow Warrior or something.

Try swpbuild from the swp 4.3.3b3 download and report back. That's what was used in the tutorial vids, runs in windows and launches into the game easily to test. Save often.

i tried swpbuild and have been having issues. im not sure if i set it all up properly. i have extracted all the games maps into the maps folder. i made sure to add SW.GRP and SW.RTS into the swpbuild directory. I put the hi resolution pack file(Sw_Hrp_v21.zip) into my maps folder but i worry that mabe i should have put it into the main swpbuild folder. I haven't been able to get the editor to allow me to shade the walls/textures etc using the plus and minus keys. also I made the same map i made before with 2 simple rooms being connected by a thin hallway with a doom-like door in the middle that opens up into the cieling manually and auto closes shortly after. i have a soundspot ST1 sprite set to play sound 162(open wooden Door sfx) when the door is opened. it shares the same match tag(lotag) as the st1 vator sprite for the door, however, it doesn't work as intended in terms of the sfx. In SWMapster32 as soon as the map would start there would be an unwanted background music playing and the door itself wouldn't make a sound but would open and close properly. In SWPBuild theres no unwanted background music, but the door still doesn't make a noise when it opens. I can hear Lo-wang talk, when I swing the sword it makes the right noises, but my soundspot ST1 sprite that is set to lotag(matchtag)5, just like the Vator sprite, won't play when I open the door. I may need to try running the game in a compatibility mode of some kind, or the problem could be with fact that i have no cd rom drive and i'm using a fake virtual Drive to trick swpbuild into thinking i have one so i can point it to the drive and checkmark the box or boxes for "play cd and music" or whatever it is. I have all the audio(.ogg) files in the music folder of my swpbuild root directory. i do have a bin and cue file that i can use as a mounted image so SWPBuild thinks I have the actual game in my virtual cd rom drive. any help on this setup would be most appreciated.

Try a higher matchtag for the door perhaps or try redoing the st1 tags from scratch. As for music, you're on your own as I don't play with the music. And when mapping I don't see why you'd need a virtual drive or anything. If in swpbuild you leave to test in game and come back it can glitch a bit sometimes and may need a restart or enter 3dmode and go back to 2d could be causing the no shading prob. Swpbuild isn't perfect but I managed to make lots of maps with it.
