Greetings,
This might be a wrong place to post this, but I do not know about shadow warrior communities at all, if there are some bigger sites dealing with this please let me know.
The news is that me and Delacroix started recovering Shadow Warrior Deadly Kiss, contacting a certain designer working on it, we got tiles and some maps, I need to go through it all, it is not the complete set, but we would need some help to sort it out and package it.
It is the only never recovered expansion for Shadow Warrior, so this is great news for all still interested in this old game.

I'm certain anyone who reads this will want to try it out I'm not sure where the site stands on being the biggest for shadow warrior by now or not, however any news is good news for Sw .. I have created a new sw-central at the beginning of 2011 : swcentral.weebly.com or www.wangsdojo.net ... both urls will take you to the new site. I could put the new file for download on sw-central if you wish, or atleast a link, whatever it may be.

I have been told I can't share the files...sorry..there is a team of guys who got more maps, they are working on restoring the Deadly Kiss content and will get to release it, after they get final OK with it.
They're on Duke4net forums for example. But the pack will see the light of day, some content like movies were lost, but they can be remade I guess.

Here's a short run-down of how things got started. Way back in 2009, I was trying to get in contact with SillySoft to talk about Deadly Kiss and possibly releasing NW as freeware. I first made contact with Andre Lowe, who then put me in contact with Joe Wilcox. He told me that he had a backup from a dev computer and needed to find it before sending off the data and to find the original contracts before releasing it publicly. About a year later, Nacho emailed me asking for information ont DK and I told him the current status and put him in contact with Joe Wilcox. A short time later, Joe emailed us with the data retrieved from the backup. I sorted through the data, finding (among about 200 MB of data when uncompressed) 1) the maps, 2) ART files, 3) a modified SW.EXE with the level names and stats, 4) two image files of a Deadly Kiss logo and an anime drawing of the main character. (Other interesting things included a pre-1.2 testing full version of SW and beta art from NW.) I'll skip the details but we didn't have everything necessary for a polished release, so I asked my friend Jimmy for help with art. We also recruited DanM Daedolon to fix errors found in the maps during playtesting. Later, LeoTCK and Delacroix contacted me saying they had made contact with Crista Forest, one of the original DK mappers, and they joined our team. (She also contributed to Twin Dragon.)
We've been hung up on really getting a straight answer concerning it's release and waiting to see if anyone would dig up further backups or any other materials, but it looks like we're getting left with what we got. Alas we are making progress and getting serious about pushing it out the door. I'm probably 20%-30% on the art right now. In fact, we're really gonna need a modeler so if anyone is interested in helping us, send me or Hendricks a message.

Holy crap...decided to do some google research tonight to see if I could dig anything up on Deadly Kiss. I made a level, no idea if it stayed in the project or not, for this sucker.

Any update on this? Or can we exchange a PM, Robman? I'd love to see a list of the levels you recovered to see if mine survived.

DK is presumably being slowly worked on by a small team, hendricks266 being one of them, he'd knows more about it than me. My guess though is that it's still a long way off. Also.. Welcome to the forum/site

Joe Wilcox co-owner of "Simply SillySoft" May 26 2021 post about the Deadly Kiss add-on. Here is the copy/paste if the above screenshot isn't viable: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hi I'm Joe Wilcox, and I was the part owner of Simply Silly Software. I have to admit, this was quite a fun read. But I wanted to clarify a few things. No, we didn't hide or mislead WizardWorks on anything. DK was cancelled at some point before it was due. Keep in mind most of the add-ons like this were very short duration and very light on money. DK might have been something like 3 months for $15K or 6 months for $30K. The actual terms are long in the past and out of my memory. When it was cancelled, we zipped up the WIP and sent it to the publisher (standard procedure in a work-for-hire). What I recovered was a CD labeled "old projects" that happened to have some of the DK stuff on it. We were tiny, it's not like we had P4 setup and tracking everything. So those maps are probably as close to what was "final" as possible. I don't really remember where in the development the project was. For example, I have a vague memory of either hiring a college student / actor to do the voice or having discussions about it. I know we had lines scripted but I honestly don't remember if they were ever recorded. This was a long time ago. And remember, this was 2 college kids in a bedroom with a couple of contractors. As for why it was shelved, the reason we were told was the sales # for Shadow Warrior were too soft. I don't think Crista did either of the enemy sprites. I think Andre did both of you them. But don't hold me too that. Were those two 3dr screenshots stagedI'm sure they were. I did enjoy NW myself I guess as one of few people, but some of the levels were quite unfinished/blandWhat people do not understand about Nuclear Winter, is it was originally a 2 or 3 level Christmas mod a couple of us were doing in our spare time that suddenly got picked with a very short runway. I have a thing for Christmas projects, H2H Xmas Doom, NW, Capture the Tree. And to all the haters, it sold well so I was happy And SantaMatch was a hoot .. .oh my face!!! SillySoft did have low standards.Correction, we had normal standards, but really tiny budgets. This leaves the question of what happened with DK. All the data that has been recovered so far is from late '97 iirc. As aforementioned it wasn't ready for ChristmasI don't believe it was ever intended for Christmas. This thing is borderline incoherentBah everyone's a critic. FWIW: MonkeyShines is an inside joke between myself and Andre and DK was never suppose to follow the SW story line. It's ShadowWarrior: Extended Universe! Totally non-cannon. But man I forgot about D-Cup.. god we could never do this today! Why did they choose to make the main character female in DK? While it's interesting, I guess I'm not seeing the big picture of the original idea.
I'm pretty sure because the concept of an anti-"Lo Wang" called "No Wang" was kind of funny to us. And we were watching a lot of anime so we loved strong female characters with guns. My general point was, in my opinion, paying for a ADR session to rerecord all of Lo Wangs audio with a female actress, was not worth the cost back thenYou don't understand how these things got made. The ADR session would have been a college friend from the theater department, in a loft being recorded with a $20 mic and mixer. The total cost of dubbing all of the lines for No Wang wouldn't have been much. Definitely free. My understanding is that Joe Wilcox wouldn't allow it to be sold, anyway.Yes, but only because it not being free means I'd have to deal with legal contracts, getting permission from others, etc. if Joe Wilcox will find some original contracts that he signed with WizardWorks or smtn? Did he find it? What if he didn't find it?I did not. But I'm pretty certain it had the standard WW 10 year clause where rights revert at the 10y mark. So release away. Besides, noone left at WizardWorks to sue! he tells me that No Wang name was "insult" to Lo Wang. No, "No Wang" is meant to be a homage to "Lo Wang" and keep the joke alive. Anyway good luck to the project, I hope it's finished. " So, the main takeaway here is that DK could have been released to the public back in 2007-8. Makes "leaking" it in 2016-17 seem long overdue. SO RELEASE AWAY!
