What do we think of the upcoming port to Steam for Shadow Warrior? I personally hope it gives the game much more exposure and will let people play multiplayer more easily (when that part of the port comes out) Edit: Changed name from + to Redux.

Anything that get Sw out to the masses is a good thing in my mind. However that said I hope they do a good job of it and don't rush it through. On another note, Welcome to the forum ... it's alot quieter over here than @ duke4 , haha

Well, I know they have a deadline to meet, probably due to the Shadow Warrior reboot. Their Shadow Warrior iOS port was good though so I don't think there is need for worry Thanks, I did think it was awful quiet but maybe people will visit when all this Shadow Warrior media comes in?

Well it looks like the Steam port of Shadow Warrior Classic is free to play forever now. Hopefully this will garner some new players.

ok so I am new to steam... I have made an account and downloaded the supposed 1.5 mb steam file ! .. only to learn it adds 100mb worth of updates after that ROFL .. what a joke. Being phone tethered for my internet this bothered me but whatever. Also why is Shadow Warrior "Classic" approx 200 megabytes on steam when the original game is 50 mb .. wtf ? The next issue is that I cannot create a new thread in the "discussion" section of Sw, all it tells me is that I've "posted too much" and won't let me create a thread despite never making a thread on steam before AT ALL... also now steam just errors ( website and software ) when I go to comment on an existing thread ? It was good of steam to get Sw back out into the public eye but people on there are having NO CLUE how to play the game using dosbox .. are frustrated by the mouse movement and crappy resolution and this will keep people from enjoying the game. In-short ... steam is pissing me off, lol

I'm not sure about the not being able to post issue, but the Steam version of Shadow Warrior is 200mb because it includes all the CD music as well as build and stuff. Steam itself is kinda weird like that with updates.

Is this going to be full on polished up ? .. with a new front end for setup, launch... multiplayer launch and add-on launch and config ? All the features of SWP or jonoF with all the bugs squashed... this will have to be done flawlessly to be chargeable ... I would personally consider purchasing it if it basically creates a new fully fledged online multiplayer base... I personally don't yearn for achievements but I know some people do. It will need to be straight forward to setup .. and "pretty" wouldn't hurt either.

You can see what their work is like with Duke Nukem 3D: MegaTon Edition. It has some perks, but it's mostly the original games run in DOSBox, as opposed to a good modern port.
They're not finished though, things like multiplayer are still coming. So who knows, maybe once they're done updating things, they'll be good competitors to things like SWP.

I would personally consider purchasing it if it basically creates a new fully fledged online multiplayer base... I personally don't yearn for achievements but I know some people do. It will need to be straight forward to setup .. and "pretty" wouldn't hurt either. There will be 4 options when launching it from Steam. Shadow Warrior, Wanton Destruction, Twin Dragon and the DOSBox version. You will be able to setup everything ingame and the DOSBox version will most likely boot into setup like Megaton does. Multiplayer won't be in launch (I don't think) as I think they will squash any release bugs and then go back to finishing Megaton then Multiplayer. Understandable right? The port will be based on JFSW so it won't have any bugs that SWP introduced. If you're also worried about bugs then the game will have a closed Beta period like Megaton did before launch and I'm positive TermiT will fix anything that pops up. He thinks the Shadow Warrior code is much better than Duke Nukem 3D anyway. As for achievements well, thats just the in thing for Steam games. If you have a suggestion I would be more than happy to pass it on or Show him this thread.

Interesting choice going for JSFW over PROasm's work with SWP, though it is understandable to a point as he wouldn't have to clean up the majority of bugs that Pro left behind.
Multiplayer is already there (if you look at the .conf files from the Steam install), it's just not easily accessible for the common menu driven consumer. Another thing is increasing the 2 player node limit that JFSW currently offers.

^^ Also I hope the Redux is released soon, I'd like to see how they changed it around. Better multiplayer would kick ass! (fingers crossed for a masterserver and dedicated servers)

I downloaded shadow warrior redux and I have a problem it keeps crushing down; Like I start it, new game, difficulty, loading map and then boom all game down. And I dunno what keeps turning it off. Sometimes it work a while, but crashes on a specific point in game again. What to do to enjoy the game?
