Hi all,
I know I am not the only one to have the problem of SWP locking up with sound turned on. Works fine with sound off except though I still have music I have no "sound". I have yet to find a solution. SWP sound worked fine until I upgraded to a new video (yes, video) card. SWP and the Redneck Rampage Rides Again equivalent are the only programs where I have noticed this problem. Any thoughts?

Mr. Safer! Good to hear from you again. What O/S are you using?.. have you tried a vista compatibility mode?

I'm back.
Nope. Tried SWP 4.3.2 and 4.3.3 beta 2 with Vista sp2, XP sp2 & 3. Said "failed to load Tables.dat" . But I doubt that is the problem.
SWP worked with Win7 with my old video card but not my current one.
Remember back in the DOS days when you installed a card and had to select the proper something or other that wasn't already used by some other card? I do, barely. Maybe there is such a conflict with my current video card.

Maybe the files are read-only, don't know.
Vista could have permission problems, try putting the game on a 2nd drive or root directory...
I think you your talking about IRQ problems, check your device settings and logs.

hmm.. make sure your .grp file is named Sw.grp not SW or sw.grp .. I think I got tables.dat error before and that was the cause.
Have you played with the sound settings in SWP?

Changed SW.grp to Sw.grp . Nope. Still locks up (ap crash) when the program tries to play a "sound".
Tried sound settings every which way. Nope. Only runs when I disable "sound". If I then enable sound from the game's settings, it locks.
What would change and cause a problem with SWP (and SWP type RRRA. EDUKE32 is OK.) with the installation of a new video card?
Before the video card change I could only play my HUGE CV63.map, without it locking up at some early point, with SWP. Still true except I must disable sound now. ;< No sound problem with DOS box versions but will lock while playing CV63.
Update: New PC fixed this.

Disable v-sync? To be honest I could stab in the dark more but some of the only guys who may know are: Hendricks266, ProAsm or Maligned(Unskilled) or Ken Silverman, Charlie Wiederhold. It's good to see you back on the scene though

Thank you.
It seems I now have much more time on my hands. I spend most of my computer time with Trainz but my interest in Shadow Warrior continues.

Driver issue? Does the video card also do sound? It's weird to ask, but my GTX 550 outputs sound over the DVI ports if hooked to a TV or monitor that supports it.

Hi Brandon,
I think you are on to something. Yes, I have a GTX 550. My monitor does not support sound (no speakers). My speakers are connected to the green phono (?) jack. Hmmm... My monitor uses the D-sub connector. The problem started when I installed the GTX 550.
