Thanks for putting up a downloadable version the RAR file seems to be about 330mb. The originals were about 415mb for all 3(unzipped.) I haven't checked, but you kept the videos as 720p right? Anywho, thanks again.

Well, I've made some videos that should make it easier to learn Sw map making (So hopefully other people might try it) Beginner maps are always pretty poor but the main part is that you try and don't give up. Video #1 re-posted down here to keep things contiguous;

Where do we get the sprite tags .txt from? -nevermind, I found it in the SWPbuildhelp.txt.
I watched your videos and somehow I turned the entire sector into one giant door, so it squashes everybody, instead of the tiny door I made. Is there any idea what I did wrong? I followed the video.
Thanks

Your sector vator isn't in the door sector, it's in the main sector, causing the main sector to become the "door" and crushing you.
The soundspot doesn't need to be in the door sector, just near it. The Sect_vator hi-tag 92, does because it's affecting THAT sector.
the text files came with the retail dos sw version.
spritags and sounds.txt are viewable/downloadable from the build editor section on the site.

I watched the video again and I'm still kind of confused as to what I did wrong. Is sector 'vator' the default main sector? i.imgur.com/Nth4x5U.jpgThis is how it looks

Hit [L] to turn off grid-locking and move the SECT_VATOR sprite into the center small door sector. Be sure to hit [L] again when you're done with that or you won't like what it does the next time you try to draw walls.
Haven't used SW Build in a long time so I might be wrong, but I'm at least sure this won't break anything irreversibly.

High Treason is correct.
.. sector vator is not the main sector, it's the name of the effect you are creating.. see how your st1 sprite with the hi-tag of 92 says "sect_vator" when in 2dmode?
The video says(and shows) to put the sprite in the sector that will be the door. Your sector vator sprite is right on the edge of being in the sector. You can press "G" a few times to make the grid size smaller letting you leave grid locking on and still be able to get the sprite in the sector which will be the door.

You're using JFbuild? From the looks of your image, only the kenbuild art is loaded, which you don't need to map for SW. You need to have the sw.grp file in the same folder as the build editor.
I would recommend using SWP with SWP build for creating SW maps.
Download SWP 4.3.3, put your sw.grp file in the swp folder and then launch SWPbuild.(if you like)

I was using the build editor which is integrated in the Steam version.

Those Videos are great and all, it's just that they don't seem to be accurate any more. at least not for me. The controls for changing tags 3 and up are not what they should be in SWMapster32 like they are in the original Build.exe for SW. in fact I cant figure out how to change tags 3 and up in SWMapster at all. also, in the Regular "Build.exe" that comes with Shadow Warrior, I cant resize textures using the numpad with any accuracy because the increments of change are so large that it's impossible to be accurate. any help would be so much appreciated. also note that i have limited the number of CPU Cycles to 400000 so the graphics didnt flicker in higher resolutions such as 800x600 or even 1920x1080. Id also like to add that I am using the GOG.com version of "Shadow Warrior Complete" and am using the version of DOSBOX that comes with it.

It's been 8 years now since I made those videos but I think pressing 5 on the numpad or holding it gave you smaller increments for texture resizing? I always used og build and swpbuild as the sw for mapster thing is new. If ;3 doesn't work to give you tag 3, is there a menu system with the f keys?

holding 5 on numpad just makes the increments larger

has anyone actually tried to follow along with the video on making a simple door that opens up into the cieling recently on either Build.exe and/or SWMapster32 to see if it still works the way it used to on your modern systems? I'd really be interested to know if someone has tried that successfully within the past 3 months or so. I'm wondering if it's just me, or everyone.

just build two simple basic square rooms connected by a small door that opens upwards like a doom door and makes a sound when it opens that sounds like a door opening.

I mapped on an hp 8440p i5 520m win 7 64 bit... modern hardware isn't the problem. Try a different soundfx number and see if it works properly.
Use swpbuild like in the videos if you're having problems.
